Job description

You are driven to make environmental data more accessible.

In this role, you’ll work on a cross-functional team and interact with users and data providers to develop and expand the metals sector of the ecoinvent database. Our Data Analysts play a pivotal part in making environmental data more accessible, directly contributing to our mission of promoting sustainability and facilitating informed decision-making worldwide.

The ideal candidate brings strong critical thinking skills and a problem-solving attitude. You are proactive, structured, and organized. You are enthusiastic about learning and pushing for innovation. You will work independently and alongside internal and external collaborators, so good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and a can-do attitude are essential. Managing multiple, diverse tasks simultaneously does not phase you. You enjoy working in a diverse and international team, have a curious mind, and grasp new concepts quickly.

  • Desk research tasks, deep dives into metal production processes, and providing analyses to the sector manager
  • Reviewing datasets for data provision projects
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as data providers, to guide them through the data preparation and submission process.
  • Support the communication efforts of ecoinvent, reinforcing support for users of the ecoinvent database.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mining, Metallurgy, or a related field.
  • Preferably a minimum of one year of industry experience in mining, metal processing, or a related field
  • Experience in LCA, practical or theoretical, and the ecoinvent methodology and data is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English; any other language is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Basic programming skills, especially in Python.
  • Basic modeling skills.
  • Self-motivated attitude, systematic thinking, and strong attention to detail.
