Job description

You are driven to make environmental data more accessible.

In this role, you’ll work on a cross-functional team and interact with users and data providers to develop and expand the energy sector of the ecoinvent database. Our Project Managers play a pivotal part in making environmental data more accessible, directly contributing to our mission of promoting sustainability and facilitating informed decision-making worldwide.

The ideal candidate brings a collaborative attitude and a passion for knowledge sharing. You are proactive, structured, and organized, providing sound judgment. You are enthusiastic about learning and pushing for innovation. You will work with collaborators of mixed backgrounds, so good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and a can-do attitude are essential. Managing numerous diverse tasks at the same time does not phase you.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic development of the energy sector within the database, collaborating closely with senior management and other stakeholders to define needs and develop solutions.
  • Collaborate and implement data collection projects, including managing data providers, editors, and internal teams through data collection, submission, and review.
  • Work to improve the representation in the database of the sectors of expertise (fuels), define the project scope and objectives, coordinate all relevant stakeholders, and jointly define the requirements.
  • Represent ecoinvent and contribute to our mission of providing high-quality data.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a subject related to energy (e.g., energy systems) and/or environmental sciences, natural science, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in the field of energy systems and/or environmental sciences, a natural science, or a related field.
  • Experience successfully managing multiple projects, both internally and with external partners.
  • Experience in sustainability and/or Life Cycle Assessment.
  • Skilled at defining, tracking, and reporting progress (LCA).
  • Familiarity with and practical experience with the methodology and the data structure of the ecoinvent database is highly desirable.
  • Experience with sustainability standards (e.g., GHG reporting) and other related standards/models is a plus.
  • Experience in using an LCA software tool (e.g., Brightway, SimaPro, etc.) is a plus.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral) is required; additional language skills can be useful.
