Hosted by SASMIRA, this LCA Summit seeks to create a more sustainable future in the textile industry and has identified three key environmental challenges:
- Carbon Footprint: Textiles generate 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 annually, more than the combined emissions from global aviation and shipping.
- Resource Intensity: Textile production consumes 93 billion cubic meters of water annually, with a single pair of denim jeans requiring 1,000 gallons of water.
- Pollution and Waste: The textiles industry is responsible for 20% of global wastewater pollution and releases vast amounts of microplastics into oceans.
LCAS-2025 will show how industries can answer these challenges using the globally recognized scientific methodology, Life Cycle Assessment.
From ecoinvent, Database Content Lead Avraam Syemondis will present ‘LCA Frameworks and Global Best Practices: Leveraging Databank Insights and Case Studies’ on January 9th at 12:30 PM.
